Founded in 1989 by visionary Mr. Peter Vaz and his partner Mr. Edgar Afonso, the Group began its journey as Models Real Estate Developers. Both young and dynamic civil engineers, Peter and Edgar shared big ambitions. With their innovative thinking and technical expertise, they set out to build sustainable, high-quality homes that would redefine the Goan skyline.
Thanks to a steadfast commitment to quality and ethical business practices, the company quickly gained recognition and trust as one of the best builders in Goa, becoming a preferred developer for Goans, Indians, and NRIs alike. But Models Group’s vision went far beyond real estate. In 1996, the company made its foray into hospitality with the launch of Sonesta Inns, a boutique beachside resort that captured the essence of Goan warmth and luxury. This marked the beginning of a new chapter in Goa’s thriving tourism sector. Driven by a lifelong passion for football, Mr. Peter Vaz expanded the Group’s footprint into sports in 1999 by acquiring and rebranding Cidade de Goa Football Club into Sporting Clube de Goa—a move aimed at nurturing local talent and promoting the sport nationally. In 2004, the Group ventured into leisure tourism with the launch of Coral Queen, a river cruise along the scenic Mandovi. The cruise quickly became a household name, offering a new way to experience Goa’s charm and hospitality.
