Five Easy Eco-Friendly House Ideas

“We did not inherit the earth from our ancestors; we borrowed it from our children”   Spending out half your salary every month on organic produce isn’t the only way to call your home an eco-friendly house. While many people associate going green with inconvenient and expensive lifestyle changes, there are actually several cheap and easy adjustments you can make around the house to significantly help save our mother earth. In lieu of Environment Day that took place on 5th June, and to make it as easy as possible for you to transform your house into a clean energy haven, we’ve rounded up a list of the easiest eco-friendly house changes right here.

Use of a Pressure Cooker

You’ll be doing both the environment and yourself a favor by investing in a pressure cooker. The kitchen utensil, not only speeds up the time it takes to cook a meal, but also reduces cooking time by as much as 70 percent, which means less energy used preparing your favorite meals.

Light up your homes with LED

LED is a highly energy efficient lighting technology, and has the potential to fundamentally change the future of lighting. They are the latest and most efficient lighting option which is available in the market. They not only have the potential to save the environment,  they’ll also save you a huge chunk of money on your energy bill. The perfect way to brag to your friends about living in an eco-friendly house.

Convert your scraps into compost

No matter what you’re eating, you’re going to end up with scraps of food to throw away at the end of a meal. How about instead of throwing them away, you store them in a bin for composting? Studies have found that food waste in landfills is one of the leading causes of methane, but composting prevents the food’s decomposition and subsequent release of greenhouse gases.

Learn to say a big NO to any form of plastic

Putting your plastic bottle in the recycle bin, or making use of recyclable plastic, doesn’t make up for the fact that you’re using plastic in the first place. Plastics are synthetic (artificially created) chemicals that don’t belong in our world and don’t mix well with nature. Even biodegradable plastics, just get broken down quickly into tiny pieces but like the rest get deposited at the end of the ocean as well, bringing us back to the same issue of polluting the oceans. Make the switch to reusable bottles or cloth bags, and you’ll be saving the earth with every sip you take.

Fix that leaky tap and shorten your showers

A drop every second adds up to five gallons of wasted water per day. And if you keep your shower until five minutes total, you can save up to 1,000 gallons monthly. Don’t ponder all of life’s thoughts in the shower just because the warm water feels nice on your skin. Shortening your shower by as little as one minute can save up to 150 gallons of water per month.   All the projects under Models Construction are aimed towards a sustainable living and a green environment. A Local’s Guide to Spending Summer in North Goa

Summer in North Goa doesn’t arrive with spectacle. It slips in quietly through longer mornings, softer light and a pace that gently loosens its grip. Close enough to reach Anjuna and Vagator in minutes, yet far enough to preserve the calm, Pilerne sits quietly between green hills and the backwaters of Nerul. This isn’t an itinerary—it’s a way of being in a place where mornings begin before the heat settles, afternoons call for stillness, and evenings belong to the shore.
